|
NGC 6334 is an emission nebula located 5,500 light years away in the constellation Scorpius. It was discovered by astronomer John Herschel in 1837. Located close to the galactic equator, it is buried in the dust of the Milky Way. This large starforming region is a challenging target to observe visually, but seems to take well to imaging! The bright star to the left it HR 6454, with magnitude 6.4. At the top right corner you can see part of open cluster Bochum 13. Time given is UTC; image was taken at 1:11:45 AM local time. GRAS-013: Tak Sky 90 - FL 416mm @ f/4.6, SBIG ST-2000XMC, Single Shot Color filter, One Click image.
