HD 159543 in Hercules

HD 159543 in Hercules is a nice 3-star system, seen slightly left of center in this image. The primary is a white A0 star with a visual magnitude of 7.82; its absolute magnitude is similar to that of Sirius. The "B" star, slightly to the left of the primary, is a yellow G5 star, similar to our sun, but with a visual magnitude of only 11.4 due to its distance. The "C" star, directly above the primary, is a red M0 star shining at mag 8.8.

The system is estimated to be 600 light years away. This means that the actual distance between the primary and "B" stars is 0.06 light year, about 100 times as far as Neptune is from the sun. The "C" star, at 0.18 light year, is about 3 times farther away from the primary.

Data for each pair:
Pair AB has a position angle of 98°, with a separation of 21.30" seconds of arc.
Pair AC has a position angle of 358°, with a separation of 66.30" seconds of arc.
