Amazing image, and it is also incredible to have been done with a reflex camera Canon 400D. It is a great camera but normally the CCD´s cameras, are better to the Deep Sky images. But this one, is very impressive. Well done, Congratulations

The most side of the merit goes to the dark skies of Pollino Mount, not to DSLR and me.

From my personal experience, DSLR cameras, modified or not, are great for Deep Space Objects. This one is a fine example. Nicely done.

There are a great deal of people using DSLR for imaging these days. It's a great way to get a large sensor CCD in to the image train without having to break the bank.
