Actual Size: 12 light years across
Visual Size: 65x60 arcminutes
Other Designations:NGC 1976

The Great Orion Nebula is a diffuse nebula situated south of Orion's Belt. It is one of the brightest nebulae, and is visible to the naked eye in the night sky. The M42 nebula is estimated to be 24 light years across.

This image is a mosaic using all my M42 Narrowband data in Ha and OIII - it was taken with 2 scopes - My AstroProfessional 102ED & Williams Optics Zenithstar 66. The camera used was my SXV-H9.
