South Celestial Pole at Armazones

A view of the South Celestial Pole at Cerro Armazones, one of the Chilean candidate sites for the future 42-m E-ELT Observatory. At the top of this mountain, several instruments are permanently monitoring the atmospheric turbulence. I took this photograph during a campaign for the E-ELT Site Testing, using a Lunar Scintillometer.
