93 Pane Lunar Mosaic

On the 26th January, from my garden in Sussex, I set myself the task of completing a mosaic of the waxing gibbous moon. I used my Skymax 102, Celestron Ultima x2 Barlow and my QHY5v guidecam for the capture. At this focal length, I ended up needed 93 panes of mosaic. I shot 350 frames in each pane, stacking each in Registax, applying wavelets and then used iMerge to combine the 93 panes into the final image. A few tweaks of curves and sharpenss to finish.

I'm very pleased with how this image has turned out, and whilst it took a long time to capture, and even longer to process, it was very much worth it. I've not managed to capture anything like this level of detail in closeup with my very small little scope. To be honest, I never expected to.
