COSMIC JELLYFISH


At the end of October 2007 Comet 17P/Holmes suddenly brightened to naked eye visibility. This image was taken on December 1st, 2007 when the comet passed close to Mirphak, the brightest star in the constellation of Perseus.

Equipment used: Canon EOS 300D plus Sigma EX 150 mm lens mounted on a Vixen GP Photo Guider. Exposure details: Stack of 6 x 90 Second exposures @ f/3.5, ISO-1600.
